Surviving summer heat

Need some  tips on how to survive summer heat?

Summers can be hard, especially if you decide to travel down south. Being on the road, during heat waves is something you have to be careful about and take precautions.  I thought I`ll share some tips and tricks what works best for me!

1. Hydration, hydration, hydration. You might not feel thirsty or dehydrated while you walk in +40 degrees  temperature ( I sometimes don`t!) but give it some time and in a bit you`ll feel all dizzy and tired and what not. Drinking water is important, it is even more important if you plan to travel to a hot climate. In this case…Water has to become your best friend. Don`t waist your time on excuses such as oh, caring a bottle of water is too heavy or too expensive. Invest in a Bobble and you`ll be able to refill your water everywhere and drink it right away and the water is filtrated right away. I`ve got as a present last year and I`m in love with it since!

2. Wear loose, comfortable clothes. And I don`t mean that you need to wear a potato sack to cool off. You might have a Victoria`s Secret angel`s body, but showing you sweat off with a super tight, body-con dress or a body fitting shirt is nowhere near sexy.
Lightweight clothes are a must!
3. Choose cotton. Lightweight cotton. Choose natural fibers  (cotton or cotton blends) and leave all those silks and satins for cooler nights. If you do not like cotton, choose linen, but be careful- linen wrinkles very easily!
4. Protect your skin. There`s in nothing nicer than a healthy tan on the skin. But, oh girls.. Know your boundaries! There is one thing to have a tan, but there`s in another to become a look-alike to a dried raisin unless you have Tanorexia! There are literally hundreds of sunscreens out there, choose what suits you and use it. Especially when exposed to direct sun!
P.S. Don`t make a mistake, using SPF 15 twice doesn`t give you the same protection as SPV 30!:)

5. If it`s really bad, try to sleep like Egyptians do. I`ve been in places where temperatures get insanely hot and I will always remember how my mum was in slight panic when the AC in our hotel room stopped working and the temperature at night was something in between the lines “I think I`m in hell”… What I also remember is that, in order to cool off a bit, she used a damp sheet to on top of a dry towel to sleep on.  Works especially if you are some place where electricity supply is not stable..
Let me know how do you survive summer heat and what helps you feel fresh and cool while on the road!
